Discuss changing a bad writing habit. What is a bad writing habit you have? Should you change it? Why/Why Not? How do you change it?
I may have a few bad writing habits. One of my bad habits is I try to revise my paper when I am pre-writing. One of my pet peeves is seeing the little red squiggly line under a word! I just can’t let it go for some reason. I know it actually takes me longer to go back and correct, but I can’t help it. I feel I would get a lot more done if I don’t go back until I am revising the paper because when I draft, I might not even have that sentence when the revising part comes into play. I don’t think it is that bad, but it is time-consuming.
Another bad writing habit I have is I might you “feel” “personally” a bit too much. I do use it when someone asks me a question because it is my opinion. Maybe I should lay off those words a little bit. I can see when it can get confusing when they want you to write about a topic objectively. In my blogs and discussion post I “feel” it is alright to use those words but not in my papers.
Finally, I don’t think of it as a bad habit, but after editing, I do take time to revise once more. I can see how it can be bad because then I would end up writing about a whole new topic if I don’t like it, but I am a perfectionist. I think that is one of my weaknesses, I overthink.
