Post your thoughts over what you learned last week and how you can use it in your college or professional career.
What I have learned this past week is how to give constructive criticism better. What I also learned from our discussion post is that I am not the only one afraid of getting criticized with topics I choose to write about.
When it comes to constructive criticism, I mainly check for grammar errors. I don’t usually look for a flow in the paragraphs. My wife normally checks for the flow and gives me constructive criticism. I learned that constructive criticism is more to intend to educate rather than personally attack or embarrass someone. Overall, I try to keep it safe and only check for grammar errors, but now I know how to give and receive it. I personally felt attacked even if I misspelled something, but I shouldn’t overreact. I guess I strive for perfectionism, but nobody is perfect, and I must accept that.
Learning what I have learned this past week, I can use it in my career. My colleagues at work constructively criticize my job, and I also do the same when it comes to coding. I get really bummed when I get a bunch of corrections back, but this shouldn’t lower my self-esteem. I should learn from it and move past it.
What I have also learned this past week that I use in y professional career are progress reports. My new manager has implemented progress reports and why they are necessary and how it can save you from a scolding from the CEO.
